Island lovers who want to make Mallorca their second home should be informed about the well-developed medical infrastructure.
In all major villages in Majorca, there is a health center (centro de salud) or called PAC (punto de atención continuada), which covers the health care of a particular catchment area and provides basic medical care. These are always available by phone and online.
The state health service in the Balearic Islands is called Ib-Salut and there are four major state hospitals in the Balearics (two in Palma, and one each in Inca and Manacor).
Any tourist or resident with an European health insurance card in conjunction with an ID card can get treated in any health center, with the insurance cover excluded from dental treatment.
Two of the best public hospitals in Spain are in the heart of Palma, the Son Espases and the Son Llàtzer.
Furthermore, the health care provider Juaneda offers several private hospitals in Mallorca with a wide range of medical specialties:
Clínica Juaneda and Policlínica Miramar in Palma and the Clínica Juaneda Muro, whose treatment and stay are only on private account.
Excellent specialists who offer multilingual services ensure a high level of medical care and medical standards in Mallorca. In addition to Spanish doctors, many German and British doctors practice almost all subjects.
The largest international specialist center with German-speaking doctors is the Centro Médico in Porto Pi. Another German medical center is located directly on the Playa de Palma, the Peter C. Berghoff. In addition, the German specialist center in the popular resort areas, Paguera and Santa Ponsa offers medical care at German level for residents and vacationers.
At the same time, there is an abundant supply of private clinics with more advanced treatment methods and specialists in all disciplines, such as the Clínica Rotger in Palma. As the largest private clinic in Mallorca, the Quirónsalud Palmaplanas Hospital in Camí dels Reis, part of the Quirónsalud Group, is one of the best healthcare providers in Mallorca.
Pharmacies are always open, recognizable with the green blinking cross, which incidentally also offers many prescription drugs.
